Within the gay community lies a highly organized set of subcultures. These so-subgroups are not very well known by all heterosexuals and society, roughly speaking. In meaning respect would know more about it not simply label in a wrong way, but by showing tolerance and wisdom while approaching such subject.

Most people call "gay" all those who are sexually engaged with someone of the same gender, including lesbian, bisexual and transsexuals. It would be interesting to know what people are up to, before start thinking about giving them a label; a classification. Inside the gay men community, for example, there are groups like: "leather", "bear", "chubby", "transgendered" and the "drag". The first of them "leather" is more openly than the others. That is because there are gays, lesbians, bisexuals and heterosexuals involved in it. The "leather" community is directly linked to the BDSM (Bondage/ Discipline, Dominance/Submission, Sado/Masochism, also called "SM") practice. Yet, it is important to know that most into leather are, in fact, into BDSM practices. The opposite being not so common - not every BDSM practitioner can be linked to the leather culture. It would be correct to say that such culture grew from the biker and heavy metal cultures. Rob Halford, the lead singer of the world wide known heavy metal band, Judas Priest, was of great influence in the early 1978 - and soon, it was a wide-spread culture.

The integrants of the "bear" culture, for instance, share common-ground physical particularities, just as in thoughts. They often bear stocky-like furry bodies and macho-like appearance. They totally contrast with those campy feigning and avoid shunning interaction with them. Despite the existence of so-many contradictions regarding trait potential their group has lots of other subcategories due to the fact of displaying a hairy body or heavy and stocky building may not be everyone 's cup of tea. Many may confound the "chubby" integrants with the group quoted above. That is because nine out of ten are very big men.

Transgender are those who engage in partial or total reversal of genders. This subgroup can be the most complex in inner subcategories. That is because there are men and women, those operated, the "for fun"- ones, the transgendered lovers and many more. Differently of this group, there is the "drag" or "drag queens" that might have no gay integrants. They often wear only-just ultra-feminine outfits, make ups and sing gay-orientated music, just to entertain a particular public.

There are many other groups and subgroups than these above. The diversity is so huge; and that is what makes the world more colorful a place.
