The gay community acquired a huge space in the media in the internet and broadcasting. The tolerance in society has risen gone by so many years of repression and hypocrisy. Nowadays, we can see specialized stores, bars, newspaper, internet sites and even television shows. People are more respectful for those different ones and in spite of not totally perfect yet, things are better than we could imagine ten years ago.

If there were important things that the gay community reached until now, part of it is the result of its advent. With the incredible speed of communication that the world is linked today, ideas, discussions, meetings and many more other things happened due to the internet capacity of unite people all around the world. By accessing the internet there are available to us, millions and millions of gay-friendly sites, offering meetings, erotic/pornographic materials, products, videos, and a huge quantity of frolics to this public. It would be correct to say that everything available to the heterosexual public (exclusive entertainment purposes) is available to the gay community, too.

When the subject is television show, the space occupied by the gay community improves by leaps and bounds. Ten years ago, there were just a few special guests in sitcoms and movies, today however, there are exclusive television channels to gays and lesbians and successful television shows. The next best thing, created just to please their demanding taste, gathered an immense heterosexual public and the role played in the society was revised and pretty much accepted. Shows like "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" revealed not only the good taste they have for things like decoration, food and culture. But also, it shown to the society that there is such a thing called "sexual orientation" and being gay is just one thing among millions of other things they are. Such TV shows are so well accepted among the general public that the idea of "acceptation and tolerance" spreads without any kind of opposition. Naturally, things are happening due to acknowledgement of what once was labeled as "wrong" - people can not be resumed in a single word.
